in Rome today she came away with the win.
For those towards the French taking a vital step,
the Italian Open is a prestigious prep.
Last week at Madrid, Serena defended her title
defeating Sharapova in not much of a battle.
This time in Rome it was Vika’s turn
to face the Queen and crash and burn.
Vika and Maria, two young players of note
are rowing together in the same sad boat.
Beating Serena is what they both want most,
but whenever they meet, of them she makes toast.
They try hard and as shriekers top the heap,
but after a beating by Serena, there’s not much of a peep.
When it counts most, to Serena they fall
as she punishes them even worse than the ball.
Vikas’ number two and Maria now three
and both are wondering, “How can this be?
She’s 31 years old, well past her prime,
so why in the hell is this not our time!?”
Beating the best is easier said than done
because Serena is and has always been the true number one.
Though pundits and media have withheld her props,
unbiased non-haters know Serena is tops.
So to Serena, I now hoist an ice cold brew,
to America’s great champion, lady, this ones for you!
